The project investigates patterns and restrictions in French creation event expression, with a particular focus on the material/product alternation as a lesser-studied type of syntactic alternation in Romance. Empirically, the project draws on experimental data from production and acceptability judgment studies. Theoretically, it seeks to explore the relation between conceptual structure, lexical-semantic form, and argument realization. A further perspective concerns effects that might arise from French-English bilingualism.
